What a review looks like

The report looks fine. Then I check it.

    Everything looks fine on the page

    A healthy capital ratio, a tidy chart, a table that loads. This is where most reviews stop.

  2. 02 · The numbers

    The total is an average of averages

    The headline averages each bank’s own ratio instead of dividing total capital by total risk. It flatters the sector by six points.

  3. 03 · Model and speed

    A filter leak and a slow visual

    A two-way relationship lets the country filter reach the wrong table, and the detail table takes 8.4 seconds to load.

  4. 04 · The fix

    Corrected, ranked and signed off

    Every finding comes with its fix, ranked by impact. The ratio now reads 16.2%, the filter runs one way and the table loads in under a second.

Averaged ratios

16.2% or 22.7%?

Average the banks’ own capital ratios and the EU sector looks six points stronger than it is. One measure, one wrong total, in a report a regulator reads.

A fraud rate off by a third

Only two thirds of the card transactions had ever been checked for fraud. Divide by all of them and the fraud rate comes out a third too low.

An HR status field that disagreed with people’s own leaving dates 1,146 times, and quietly moved every turnover figure built on it.

Who does the work?

Is my data safe?

I’m happy to sign your NDA before you send anything. Your files are deleted when the work is done. If the data is too sensitive to share, an anonymised copy or a model with no data in it is enough for most of the review.

What if the report is fine?

Then you have it in writing, which is worth having before an audit or a board pack.

Can you fix the problems as well?

Yes. The rebuild covers one report end to end, and the health check fee comes off it if you book within 30 days. For anything bigger, email me and I’ll quote a fixed price.
